Hidden Value

theedenprinciple

Were you ever told or did you ever believe that nothing seems special about you; that somehow you were less than?

Do you ever feel like there is so much inside you that people don’t see? Have you ever felt so overlooked that it’s as if your heart no longer beats for your dreams? Have you felt this way for so long that you fail to even see the value of this part of yourself?

The world loves to talk about being “normal” and tries to get us to focus on expectations we were never designed to carry. The irony is that there is no such thing as normal. God made us each unique and priceless.

The enemy uses these tools to wear us down and make our eyes shift from God to ourselves and all the faults we think we have. The enemy wants us to waste our lives striving instead of abiding with the One who loves us, the One who sees every part of us. The enemy wants us to believe that we have to earn love, in fact so much of our world teaches us to fit in, to be like others, to shape our lives, desires and dreams to meet other’s expectations. The enemy wants us to spend our lives being swamped by disappointment and discouragement. He wants us to believe that we are merely supposed to be functional, doing things and endeavoring to earn love. He wants us to feel that we can never be acceptable or worthy. In short the enemy tells us we are unlovable but the truth he is trying to hide is that we are already loved! We only need to accept this great love.

We are uniquely designed by God who created our inmost parts. He could have made each one of us exactly the same, we could have been molded into a generic pattern but He wanted us to experience being loved for who we are. He didn’t just make us functional, He made us exquisite! He etched every part of us with love. He expressed His own creative nature by knitting together each one of us.

I saw the photo above and it struck me how the builder could have just used a plain, nondescript doorknob meant to be functional but he intentionally used not only an ornate doorknob but hidden within the door jamb was placed an intricate and beautiful piece of art. God wants to reveal to each of us those parts of ourselves the He created that are beautiful and special.   He wants us to know that He delights in all parts of us, the visible and the hidden.

God designed you to be cherished, because you are fearfully and wonderfully made. He sees you, knows you, longs to abide with you and He sent His son to ensure that you could know how much He loves you.
