Have you ever found yourself struggling with a circumstance and wondering how you got there? Have you ever questioned how there are moments when you are strong in knowing who you are in Christ and then turn around and be walking in doubt? Do not be distraught, you are in good company. Think about how the disciples were sent out in Luke. Jesus sent them to go and minister instructing them to take nothing with them.
“Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.
And He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece.”
Luke 9:1, 3 NKJV
When they returned they told Jesus all that had happened. Their every need had been provided for and they were overcome with how God had moved. So how is it that when they were shortly afterward faced with feeding the 5000 they were crippled in doubt?
God knew we would struggle to remain anchored in Him that is why He encourages us to stir up our faith.
“Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.”
II Timothy 1:6 NKJV
God knew we would need to hit the reset button on our identity in Him. It is when we go back to Scripture and remind ourselves of who He is and that He has chosen us that we once again walk out as the disciples did in power and strength. When our eyes are on Him the Holy Spirit moves through us. When we look at the circumstances, like the 5000 people hungry and waiting to be fed, we can be swamped by doubt. Lift your eyes to Jesus, hit the reset button and be a doorway of His kingdom love in the earth.
