Heading to get my PET scan today to see what the results of 8 months of chemo treatments have done. It’s a strange process so much waiting in the unseen and unknown. So much emotional and mental warfare and challenges to stand on God’s word. But true to our awesome God and Father’s nature as I sat down to spend time in His Word this morning He leads me to Habakkuk 3:19 “The Soverign Lord is my strength; He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, He enables me to go on the heights.”
I rejoice over this scripture for many reasons. First the word sovereign is capitalized which means it is a proper name not an adjective. A name decrees destiny, power and purpose. An adjective merely describes something or someone. Sovereign in this use tells me that it is an undeniable part of God’s personage and power. Sovereign means the ultimate source of all power, authority, and everything that exists including cancer.
Secondly, one of the things that has come forward over and over again in the past eight months is that God has higher things for me to do.
“Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am [actively] watching over My word to fulfill it.””
Jeremiah 1:12
I have clung to a truth from the beginning that God created each of the days I would live on the earth and nothing can shorten them. They are precious and are held in His hands! I will live every one of them and when they are spent I go to be with Him.
“Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.”
Psalms 139:16 NKJV
I say all of this because I want to stir up faith in myself and in others. The enemy will try to install seeds of doubt and fear and we must not allow them to take root. I hope this encourages someone else to know how deep, wide and high is the love of God for you. It is so great that He watches over you every day and that He is constantly holding us through any and every trial. He is Sovereign to work all things for our good.
